Audition Process
An audition for The American Boychoir is a quick and simple process. The Music Director will ask the boy to participate in three singing activities.
1. Vocalize: This allows the director to hear the range and tone of the voice.
2. Melody/Rhythm: The boy will be asked to listen to 3 or 4 melodies played on the piano, and sing ____them back. This will test his music memory skills.
3. Harmony: The boy will be asked to listen to 2 notes played at the same time on the piano, then to ____sing each one separately. This will test his ability to hear and identify multiple pitches.
There is no requirement for a prepared solo or piece of music, and no previous experience is required for a boy to attend the School. The audition is designed to demonstrate a boy’s ability and talent, not his prior training.
All boys who audition should be very proud of themselves for showing such courage and bravery thank you for sharing your love of music with us!
