Admissions Process
The Audition
Admission to The American Boychoir School begins with a brief audition. This may take place at the school, before or after a performance, by a recorded audition, or during our summer program, Camp Albemarle. The process is simple and takes only a few minutes, and no preparation is required.
The Visit
Following a successful audition, the boy and his family may be invited to visit the school. This is an opportunity for the entire family to see what we have to offer, and to meet faculty, staff, and our students. The visiting boy will join the regular schedule after lunch on the first day of the visit, and will experience the school firsthand, including rehearsals, classes, activities, and an overnight stay in the dormitory. A second audition will also take place during the course of this visit.
Parents will have a tour of the campus, meet members of the Music, Academic, and Community Life departments, and have the chance to ask questions about the school, the choir, life as a boarding student, and tuition and financial aid.
Becoming a Student
After a successful visit, an offer may be extended to enroll as the newest member of The American Boychoir School. Although most boys begin their enrollment in September, the School is able to integrate new students on an ongoing basis.
