Recorded Auditions

Please have a music teacher, choir director, or vocal coach/accompanist facilitate the audition.  The recording should include the following:

1.      Have the boy introduce himself – giving his name, current grade in school, hometown and state.

2.      Warm-up – vocalize the boy, having him demonstrate his high, middle, and low ranges.

3.      Melody/rhythm tests – play 3 melodies on the piano, 5-8 notes each, with varying rhythms, and ____have the boy repeat each one.  There should be at least one melody in major and one in minor.  ____The boy may sing on any neutral syllable, and the melodies may be repeated if necessary.

4.      Harmonic test – play 2 notes together and have the boy sing the higher of the two on a neutral ____syllable.  Repeat the interval and have the boy sing the lower pitch.  This should be done with 2 ____different intervals (such as P5 and M3).
