From the President's Desk: Construction Update

The Final Push Is On...

The storm has certainly set us back, including sharing this overdue update. Despite the setbacks, we have made significant progress since our last update.

While we still have a couple of challenges in front of us that are costing us additional time and expense, we remain optimistic that our move will be completed by the end of the year. In fact, administrative staff has already started to move to PCAE and will be fully up and running starting next week. In terms of academic classes, music rehearsals, and residential life, we are looking at December 16th as our final day at the Albemarle campus. We will utilize the holiday vacation window to finish the move.

Please enjoy some of our latest progress photos. We took some of them from prior photo locations so you can start to see the "before and after." I know these photos help to remind me of just how far we have come since the work began over the summer.

As I've stated previously, given that this school year represents our 75th Anniversary, the move is a significant milestone in our history: As beautiful as Albemarle is, the new 47-acre campus is the chance of a lifetime to advance our mission. The PCAE space not only looks the part of a world class organization, but provides the type of facilities that we have long dreamed of providing to our students: larger classroom and rehearsal spaces; spaces to grow new program offerings; a gymnasium; a theater stage; sufficient space for a technology lab; expanded outdoor recreation spaces; and the "jewel in the crown" for a professional choir based school - a breathtaking and acoustically perfect performance venue. This move, after years of strategic work, is a direct reflection of the Boychoir School's strong history of entrepreneurship, innovation, and ambition.

We all remain committed to making this move safe and successful. Thanks to all involved in making it happen.

Warmest Regards,

Dean Orton
